An
inversion is simply changing the order of notes in a chord. There
are three different inversions for triads. If we take a major triad: Each of these tests contains 10 questions and at the end of each test you will be given a mark and a percentage. Feel free to repeat each of the ear training tests as many times as you wish. In this advanced section, you will be tested on the three inversions of a major triad and the three inversions of a minor triad. The questions are selected at random and can be in any key. For more information about 7th Chords please click HERE hint: To distinguish between the inversions you can also use the following method: SIng the three notes of the chord as they are played, then sing them again in reverse. As you sing them in reverse, keep going down the arpeggio until you sing the root of the chord. If the root is the third note you sing then the inversion is root position. If the root is the fourth note you sing then the chord is 1st Inversion. If the root is the 5th note you sing then the chord is 2nd Inversion.
